# Using AI functions on fields and sections

AI functions are AI actions on text fields, media fields and sections in Studio, available in the canvas and in the properties panel. They suggest copy, translate into the project languages or write alt text, and every result can be undone.

**AI functions** bring AI to the place where content is created. Instead of writing copy, translations and image descriptions outside Studio and pasting them in, the team opens the AI functions menu right on the field or the section.

Two entry points open the same menu: the element in the canvas of the focused section and the field in the properties panel on the right. The actions depend on the field type:

- **Text, textarea, rich text:** suggest copy, adjust tone, translate, fill from a query, custom instruction
- **Media:** generate an image, write alt text, find a matching asset
- **Section:** fill all fields, translate, bind to data, create a variant

Each action writes only to the chosen field or section. Results are suggestions and can be reverted with `⌘Z` or `Ctrl+Z`. The project's brand context feeds into every suggestion, and the models run on the Larry Co-Pilot AI key.

## Step by step

1. 1 ### Step 1: Focus a section

   Select the section in the canvas or in the layers list so that it is focused.
2. 2 ### Step 2: Open the menu

   Click the AI functions icon on the element in the canvas or next to the field in the properties panel. Both paths open the same menu.
3. 3 ### Step 3: Choose an action

   Pick an action such as **Suggest copy** or **Translate**. For anything else, choose **Custom instruction** and briefly describe the result.
4. 4 ### Step 4: Review the suggestion

   Check the suggestion in the field and in the preview. If it does not fit, revert it with `⌘Z` and try another action.
5. 5 ### Step 5: Check the languages

   After a translation, switch the language at the top of Studio and read the localised value in each language.
6. 6 ### Step 6: Save and publish

   When everything is right, save as usual and publish with **Publish**.

## Check the result

After switching the language, the translated field shows its own value in every language, and all other fields of the section are unchanged.

## Frequently asked questions

Do AI functions overwrite other fields?

No. An action on a field writes only to that field, and an action on a section only to that section. Every change can be undone.

Why are the AI functions unavailable?

AI functions use the AI key stored for Larry Co-Pilot. If that key is missing, an organisation admin adds it in the settings.

How does the AI know the brand's tone of voice?

Every project has a brand context that is passed along with each action. The **Tone** action adapts existing copy to it.

Do suggestions go live immediately?

No. Suggestions land in the Studio draft. They only go live when a person publishes.
