# Tracking and consent built into the components

Laioutr components send events such as page view, product view, add to cart and purchase through one analytics layer. Each event only reaches the destinations the visitor has consented to.

A storefront talks to many analytics and marketing tools. Laioutr brings this together in an **analytics layer** in Frontend Core: components and apps send events to a central bus, which distributes each event to all connected destinations.

### What is captured automatically

- page views after every navigation
- clicks, element visibility, scroll depth and video progress
- e-commerce events such as product view, list view, cart, checkout, purchase and search
- campaign origin from click IDs such as gclid and utm parameters, kept for 90 days

Every event carries context: page, market with language and currency, session, consent, campaign and running experiments.

### Consent decides

Each destination states the purposes it needs, such as statistics or advertising. The bus only delivers what the visitor allowed. Events raised before the decision are held and delivered after consent, or discarded on refusal. Consent comes from the consent app, for example Cookiebot or CCM19.

This tracking base is included in the platform. The **Server Side Tracking** add-on additionally forwards events server-side to destinations such as GA4, Meta or a data warehouse.

## Frequently asked questions

Which events does the storefront send without extra work?

Page views after every navigation plus the events triggered by Laioutr UI components, such as clicks, visibility, product view and add to cart. Developers add custom events with their own event type.

What happens to events before the visitor decides in the banner?

They are held. If the visitor consents, they are delivered in order, including the first page view. If the visitor refuses, they are discarded.

How does this differ from Server Side Tracking?

The tracking base captures events in the browser and distributes them to connected destinations such as Google Tag Manager. Server Side Tracking is an add-on that forwards events server-side to many destinations, robust against ad blockers and still controlled by consent.

To set up tracking, install a consent app and the Google Tag Manager app, enter the container ID per environment and deploy. Storefront events then arrive in the data layer with GA4 names as soon as the visitor consents to statistics.
- [Set up a consent banner with Cookiebot or CCM19](https://academy.laioutr.com/en/artikel/set-up-a-consent-banner-with-cookiebot-or-ccm19)10 min

Laioutr connects Cookiebot or CCM19 as a consent app. Once installed and configured with its IDs, the storefront shows the banner, and all tracking destinations and Google Consent Mode v2 follow the visitor's decision automatically.
- [Add Google Tag Manager with Consent Mode v2](https://academy.laioutr.com/en/apps/google-tag-manager-with-consent-mode-v2)8 min

The Google Tag Manager app loads the GTM container into the storefront, sets all consent signals to "denied" up front and releases them only after visitors decide. After analytics consent, storefront events reach the data layer with GA4 names.
- [Set up Cookiebot as consent banner](https://academy.laioutr.com/en/apps/set-up-cookiebot-consent-banner)7 min

The Cookiebot app shows the Cookiebot banner in the storefront and reports the visitors' decision to the Laioutr consent store, which tracking, GTM and other apps follow. Only the Cookiebot domain group ID (CBID) is required.
