# Run campaigns with page variants

For a campaign, the team adds another variant of an existing page, builds the campaign content there and controls through rules and publishing when and where the variant applies. The previous version stays untouched.

### Prerequisites

- The page exists, for example the home page
- Campaign visuals are in the media library

A Black Friday home page, a category with a seasonal banner, a product detail page with a promotion notice: campaigns like these should be prepared without touching the current version. That is what **variants** are for.

Every page has one or more variants. A variant has its own name, its own tree of sections, its own SEO fields and its own **rules** that define where and for whom it applies, for example for one market. When a variant is duplicated, the copy takes over sections and SEO fields and gets its own data queries. This way, the campaign's product slider can switch to a sale category while the original version keeps showing new arrivals.

The process is always the same: duplicate, rebuild, set rules, review and publish. After the campaign, the rules are reverted or the variant is deleted. Teams that want to deliver variants by audience, device or campaign link source use the conditions of the AI Personalisation add-on.

## Step by step

1. 1 ### Step 1: Duplicate the variant

Open the page, for example the home page, and duplicate the current variant.
2. 2 ### Step 2: Name the variant

Give the copy a clear name, for example *Black Friday*.
3. 3 ### Step 3: Build the campaign content

Swap the hero for the campaign visual, switch the product slider's data field to the promotion category and hide sections that are not needed.
4. 4 ### Step 4: Set the rules

Set the rules in the variant properties, for example the market in which the campaign runs.
5. 5 ### Step 5: Review

Switch market and language in the top bar and check the variant in all device modes.
6. 6 ### Step 6: Publish at launch

Choose **Publish** when the campaign starts.
7. 7 ### Step 7: End the campaign

After the end, revert the campaign variant's rules or delete the variant, then publish again.

## Check the result

After publishing, the storefront shows the campaign variant in the target market and the previous version in other markets. The campaign product slider shows products from the promotion category.

## Frequently asked questions

Can the campaign launch be scheduled?

In this process, the campaign starts when it is published. Scheduled publishing of pages and entries is described in a separate article in the publishing and approvals section.

Does the copy affect the original variant?

No. The copy has its own sections and data queries. Changes there do not alter the original variant. Global sections such as header and footer, however, stay connected in both variants.

Can variants be delivered by audience?

Yes, with the AI Personalisation add-on. It adds conditions such as region, device, segment, login, cart, time or UTM parameters.

Every page in Studio is based on a page type such as Home, Product Detail or Landing Page. When adding a page, the team picks the type, checks name and URL path, and adds further variants of the same page when needed.

A landing page is created in Studio as a Landing Page type page with its own path and is assembled from installed sections: hero, content, a product slider with shop data, and header and footer as global sections.
