# Project dashboard and widgets

The dashboard is a project's start page in Cockpit and leads straight to Studio, Apps and Themes through quick entries. It is built from widgets that new features bring along as soon as they are available in the project.

The **dashboard** is the first view when a project is opened in Cockpit. It bundles the entry points into the areas teams work with every day:

- **Studio** for pages, sections and blocks with a live preview
- **Apps** for connecting commerce, CMS, search and other systems
- **Themes** for the storefront's look and feel

Technically, the dashboard is a grid of **widgets**. New features bring their own widget and appear on the dashboard as soon as they are available in the project. The dashboard deliberately shows no static placeholders without real data.

All other areas such as deployments, environments, markets, translations, redirects and content sit in the project navigation. Settings that affect the whole organisation, such as members, roles or billing, live in the organisation settings instead.

## Step by step

1. 1 ### Step 1: Open a project

Select a project in the organisation project list. Cockpit opens the dashboard.
2. 2 ### Step 2: Use a quick entry

Select a quick entry such as **Studio** or **Apps** to jump straight into that area.
3. 3 ### Step 3: Return

Use the project name in the navigation to return to the dashboard.

## Frequently asked questions

Why does the dashboard show only a few tiles?

The dashboard shows only widgets with real features or data. More widgets arrive with new features.

Where are the settings for members and billing?

In the organisation settings, not in the project. Roles, API keys and the project list are there too.

Does every project have its own dashboard?

Yes. Every project opens with its own dashboard and shows the widgets of the features available there.

The organisation is the company account with members, roles and billing, a project is one storefront or website inside it, and environments are independent copies of a project, starting with the live environment main.
- [Studio at a glance](https://academy.laioutr.com/en/artikel/studio-at-a-glance)5 min

Studio is the visual editor in Cockpit: the team builds pages from sections and blocks, sees every change in a live preview of the real storefront and publishes when everything is right.

Apps are listed in the Cockpit catalogue under Apps, installed per environment and set up under Configuration. The storefront uses them from the next deployment onwards.
