# Laioutr at a glance: organisation, project, environments

The organisation is the company account with members, roles and billing, a project is one storefront or website inside it, and environments are independent copies of a project, starting with the live environment main.

Laioutr is a Frontend Management Platform. In Cockpit, everything is organised on three levels that appear throughout the product.

### Organisation

The organisation represents the company or team. It holds members, roles, billing, API keys and the list of all projects. The organisation buys licences and assigns them to individual projects. One personal account can be a member of any number of organisations.

### Project

A project is one storefront or website, for example one brand. Each project has its own Studio, apps, markets, languages, redirects and deployments. CMS entries and media belong to the project as a whole.

### Environments

Every project starts with **main**, the live site. Copies such as **stage** or **dev** can run beside it, each with its own address, pages, apps and platform version. Changes reach a storefront only when its environment is deployed. The plan decides how many environments a project can have.

## Step by step

1. 1 ### Step 1: Open the organisation

Select the organisation in Cockpit and open its **Settings**. The tabs **General**, **Projects**, **Members**, **Roles**, **Billing** and **API keys** cover everything that applies to the whole company.
2. 2 ### Step 2: Open a project

Click a project in the **Projects** tab. The sidebar now shows the project areas, such as **Studio**, **Apps**, **Markets** and **Deployments**.
3. 3 ### Step 3: View environments

Open **Environments** in the project sidebar. Each environment appears as a card with its address, platform version and the actions **Deploy**, **History** and **Open**.

## Frequently asked questions

When is a second project better than a second market?

Another market in the same project fits when brand, page structure and team stay the same and mainly language, currency and content differ. A separate project fits when brands have their own design, page structure or team.

Do environments share content?

Pages and sections, markets, languages, redirects and apps belong to one environment each. CMS entries, media and the project secret key belong to the project and are the same in every environment.

Can one account belong to several organisations?

Yes. A personal account can be a member of any number of organisations, for example the employer and an agency.
