# Hosting and edge delivery

Laioutr Cloud is the built-in hosting for storefronts made with Laioutr and delivers them through a global edge network with more than 100 locations. Alternatively, a storefront runs through hyperscaler adapters, native hosting partners or on a self-managed server.

**Laioutr Cloud** is the default option when a project is created. It handles build, operation and delivery without a team having to set up its own servers, pipelines or runtime configuration. It includes global edge computing, traffic management, security, monitoring, logging, alerting and analytics.

Delivery runs through more than 100 edge locations with a time to first byte under 50 ms and a 99.99 % SLA. Under load, Laioutr Cloud adds instances automatically. Every storefront gets a permanent address under `laioutr.app` from day one; custom domains are added through markets.

### Other options

- **Hyperscaler**: adapters for Google Cloud, AWS, Microsoft Azure, Vercel, Netlify and Akamai
- **Native hosting**: specialised e-commerce hosts such as ScaleCommerce, maxcluster and profihost
- **Bring Your Own Server**: own pipelines and infrastructure through a webhook approach

Images and videos are delivered by the Laioutr CDN regardless of the hosting option.

## Step by step

1. 1 ### Step 1: Choose the hosting Keep Laioutr Cloud when creating the project or connect another hosting option.
2. 2 ### Step 2: Connect a domain Assign the custom domain to the market under **Markets**.
3. 3 ### Step 3: Deploy Start a deployment under **Deployments**; Laioutr Cloud builds the storefront and delivers it through the edge.

## Frequently asked questions

Does Laioutr Cloud need its own infrastructure setup?

No. Build, runtime, scaling, security and logging are part of Laioutr Cloud and integrated into Cockpit.

Can a storefront run with an existing host?

Yes. Hyperscaler adapters, native hosting partners and Bring Your Own Server connect existing infrastructure. Deployments are still controlled from Cockpit.

What happens during traffic peaks?

Laioutr Cloud adds instances automatically under load. There is no throttling; if usage exceeds the booked hosting package, Cockpit suggests the next package size.

- [Connect a custom domain](https://academy.laioutr.com/en/artikel/connect-a-custom-domain)6 min

A custom domain is assigned to a market in Cockpit and linked to a language. After the DNS record is set at the domain provider and a deployment has run, Laioutr Cloud serves the storefront under that domain.
- [Start and check a deployment](https://academy.laioutr.com/en/artikel/start-and-check-a-deployment)5 min

A deployment rebuilds the storefront of an environment and puts changes to apps, versions and configuration live. It is started in Cockpit under Deployments with Deploy; the status and build log show whether it worked.
- [Deliver images through the Laioutr CDN](https://academy.laioutr.com/en/artikel/deliver-images-through-the-laioutr-cdn)4 min

The Laioutr CDN stores a project's images in a dedicated store and delivers them from the project's own hostname. Size and format are adapted at the edge on request, and delivered images stay cached for a long time.
- [Performance: caching and Orchestr](https://academy.laioutr.com/en/artikel/performance-caching-and-orchestr)6 min

Laioutr speeds up storefronts with three cache layers: the Orchestr entity cache on the server, the HTTP cache at the edge and a store in the browser. Together they keep repeated requests from putting load on backends.
- [Vercel: deploy the storefront from Cockpit to Vercel](https://academy.laioutr.com/en/apps/vercel-deploy-the-storefront-from-cockpit)10 min

With the Vercel connection, Cockpit deploys the storefront directly into an existing Vercel project of the company. Project name, API token and team ID are stored under Hosting, Vercel; build and delivery run on Vercel.
