# Go-live checklist

Before going live, five areas are checked: account, project, markets and languages; the tested app connection; published pages including legal pages; SEO basics and redirects; and finally deployment, custom domain and removing password protection.

## Before you start

Plan

A plan assigned to the project that allows an custom domain

### Prerequisites

- Access to the DNS of the custom domain
- Approved texts for imprint, privacy policy and terms
- List of old URLs for redirects

Last reviewed on October 15, 2026

This checklist completes the path from the first project to a live storefront. It summarises what should be done before launch and points to the matching article for each item.

The order follows the work in the project: first the basic structure with markets and languages, then the data connection, then pages and content, followed by search engines and old addresses. At the very end come the steps that make the storefront public: check the deployment, connect the custom domain and remove password protection.

Important for every item: settings saved in Cockpit and Studio reach the storefront only with the next deployment of the environment **main**. Preview addresses, other environments and markets in **Draft** status are not indexed by search engines. The checklist applies to Laioutr Sites and Laioutr Commerce; items about the shop connection do not apply to websites without a backend.

## Step by step

1. 1 ### Step 1: Account, project, markets and languages

Organisation and project exist, and a plan is assigned to the project. All languages are added under **Translations**, and under **Markets** every market has currency, domains and language. The **Default market** is set, and every market that goes live is set to **Active**.
2. 2 ### Step 2: App connection tested

Under **Configuration**, all required settings for the environment **main** are filled, and no app entry shows an orange dot. **Test connection** succeeds for every app, and Studio shows real products and content.
3. 3 ### Step 3: Pages and legal pages published

All pages are built in Studio, checked in every language and released with **Publish**. Imprint, privacy policy and terms exist. Online shops also have the revocation button from the Essentials app Legal in header, footer or navigation.
4. 4 ### Step 4: SEO basics and redirects

Every page variant has a meta title and description in its **SEO** section, and pages such as cart or account are set to noindex. The organisation for Schema.org is configured. Under **Redirects**, every old URL leads to the new page with a permanent redirect.
5. 5 ### Step 5: Check deployment, connect domain, remove password protection

Under **Deployments**, the current deployment of **main** has the status success, and the **Build log** shows no errors. The custom domain is entered in the market and connected. Finally, switch off protection for the production hostname and the custom domains under **Hosting** › **Laioutr Cloud** › **Password protection**.

## Frequently asked questions

Is a new deployment needed after changing redirects or app settings?

Yes. Saved redirects and app settings take effect with the next deployment of the environment. Until then, the running storefront uses the previous state.

Why does a market not appear in the language switcher?

Markets in **Draft** status are reachable through their domain but are not linked anywhere and not indexed. Only the **Active** status makes the market public.

Why can the domain without www not be protected?

A domain without www redirects to the www address and is never protected itself. Password protection applies to the www hostname.

Will Google find preview addresses?

No. Environments other than production are excluded from indexing automatically, and preview addresses are password protected by default.

A custom domain is assigned to a market in Cockpit and linked to a language. After the DNS record is set at the domain provider and a deployment has run, Laioutr Cloud serves the storefront under that domain.
- [Password-protect the storefront until launch](https://academy.laioutr.com/en/artikel/password-protect-the-storefront-until-launch)5 min

Laioutr Cloud password protection puts a password page in front of individual storefront hostnames. Previews are protected by default, production and custom domains are switched on one by one, and bypass secrets let tests and Studio through.
- [SEO basics before launch](https://academy.laioutr.com/en/artikel/seo-basics-before-launch)10 min

Before going live, every important page needs a meta title, a description and the right robots value, the organisation belongs in the structured data, and old URLs redirect to new ones. The team then checks robots.txt, sitemap and rich results on the live domain.
- [Start and check a deployment](https://academy.laioutr.com/en/artikel/start-and-check-a-deployment)5 min

A deployment rebuilds the storefront of an environment and puts changes to apps, versions and configuration live. It is started in Cockpit under Deployments with Deploy; the status and build log show whether it worked.

The Legal essentials app provides building blocks for legally required content, first of all the revocation button under EU Directive 2023/2673 with a two-step flow and an automatic confirmation of receipt. Placement, wording and data sources are set up in Studio.
